What you’ll do

Day #1 | Arrival

Our private bus will pick you up from the city of Volos, at a prearranged time and location, to take you to your accommodation in East Pelion. After you check in and freshen up, it’s time for our “Meet & Greet” moment, over a cocktail and dinner. The first cocktail is on us!

Day #2 | Walking & boating

You’ll be introduced to Pelion’s scenic views with a short walk to a picturesque coastal village. There, you’ll embark on a private boat excursion to the legendary area of the sea caves, located in the uninhabited part of Pelion. You will swim and snorkel in the pristine waters of the Aegean Sea until you start getting hungry. Then you’ll head to our favourite nearby beach where an authentic Greek picnic will be in the making.

Day #3 | Village visit & taverna

After breakfast, we will walk around the village of Zagora, explore the old paths used by the villagers for centuries, meet some of the locals and visit some architectural gems of the village. The day continues with a visit to Pelion’s “final frontier”, which is where the asphalt road actually ends. There we’ll enjoy a homemade traditional Greek lunch under an ancient plane tree, on a lingering terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Day #4 | Sea kayaking & cooking

Embark on a day of adventure starting with a post-breakfast rendezvous with your vibrant double-seated sea kayak, your trusty exploration vessel for the morning. Acquaint yourself with the art of paddling before setting off on an invigorating expedition along the picturesque east coast of Pelion, where tropical vibes meet Grecian charm.

After the morning paddle, enjoy some leisure time until the evening unfolds with a delightful cooking session. Gather on a stunning terrace that offers panoramic views of the pristine Chorefto beach, creating the perfect backdrop for a culinary experience that blends relaxation with the joys of coastal living.

Day #5 | Walking, relaxing & seaside lunch

On the last morning of your trip, you’ll find yourself wandering into a tunnel-like path along the forested coast that leads to our very personal paradise; a small untouched beach. And right when you start thinking that summer doesn’t get better than this, a lunch waiting at a seaside tavern, tucked away on a remote rocky beach will make sure to prove you wrong.

After lunch, you will hike back to your accommodation and get some rest before our final activity together: an afternoon outdoor gathering where we will enjoy the night breeze over some drinks and good music.

Day #6 | Departure

You can take one last morning walk along the beach or simply enjoy a long breakfast (or both if you are an early bird) before you ride on our bus which will take you back to Volos.

Slow Travel: What to expect

During your journey, we aim to offer a relaxed travel experience, ensuring nothing is hurried. You’ll have the freedom to enjoy your afternoons and evenings at your own pace – be it reading on your hotel balcony, socializing with co-travellers over drinks, taking a solitary beach walk, or having a peaceful dinner nearby. Your choices are yours to make, and we’re always here for tips and suggestions.

Hotel Selection

Casual/Standard Hotel Cleopatra (or similar) – Operated by a local family dedicated to cleanliness, this laid-back hotel is primarily focused on its prime location. To reach Chorefto Beach, you only need to cross the street! The rooms are straightforward, cozy, and offer pleasant seaside views. Each room comes with a private bathroom. Single room availability is limited.

Food & Drinks

In this trip breakfast and lunch (including an outdoor picnic and a collective cooking session) are all included. Dinner however is left up to each participant’s own choice and preference. Of course, we will be more than happy to give you tips and suggestions. Other than your first cocktail at our “Meet and Greet”, drinks are not included but will be available.

Meet your tour leader George

Yorgos, or George, was born in Zagora, one of the villages of East Pelion, where he also grew up. Yorgos is a polite, funny and very welcoming tour leader who always manages to instil in our guests his deep love for Pelion. His primary trait is prioritizing safety, demonstrating a deep and sincere concern for the travellers who entrust him with their holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I bring any cash with me?

ATMs in Pelion are really scarce and the nearest ATM is 8km away from your accommodation so please make sure you take out some cash before going up the mountain. Your tour leader will inform you about your options. Also while most places accept credit cards, some, like roadside kiosks, don’t. If you plan to leave tips or buy gifts and products directly from local farmers, we strongly recommend using cash.

What kind of weather can I expect during the trip, and how should I prepare for it?

Pelion, being a mountain, exhibits unpredictable weather, ranging from Nordic conditions with heavy snowfall in winter to an almost subtropical feel on certain summer days. Since this trip occurs in early and late summer, expect occasional rain showers and choppy seas, along with sunny days and calm winds. Temperatures may vary between 12°C and 30°C. To be ready for diverse weather, pack essentials like a swimsuit, flip-flops, and a hat, as well as waterproof rain gear, long tops and trousers, and sturdy walking shoes. Keep in mind that Pelion’s weather can be capricious, so readiness is key.

Is there reliable cell phone and internet coverage during the trip?

Cell phone and data service is limited in some of the locations we visit on this trip. Internet access is available at your accommodation, but please bear in mind that the connection in rural Greece is way slower than what you may be used to.

How can I book hotel accommodations before and after the trip, or extend my stay?

If you need to book hotel accommodations before and after your trip, or an extension to your trip, we will be happy to help you with tips and information, but regarding bookings you will have to work with your own travel advisor or book directly with the hotel, or through a travel website.

What happens if there are circumstances that necessitate a change in the trip itinerary?

If unforeseen circumstances require a change in the trip itinerary, we will make every effort to select alternative accommodations of the same quality and to keep the activity modifications minimal.

What happens if I arrive late to Volos?

If you have a delay or emergency on the day of your trip, and you miss the pick up at the Volos port, we will arrange for you to get a taxi to your accommodation on your own, which you will have to pay for upon arrival to your taxi driver (approx. €70-80 euros).

What can I expect from the meals during the trip?
